Welcome to ezign.co.uk

Ezign is my online portfolio as well as my sketchbook. This project was started in 1999 whilst studying an MSc in Multimedia and Interactive Media as a student in Edinburgh.

It was initially set up as a vehicle for displaying my current design and interactive work but has evolved over time.

The site contains work done with many different techniques and different media, covering work I have been involved since 1992. I also use it as travel blog and for other ramblings.

jabs_thumbAnd that’s about it for travel jabs, you still need anti malarial pills I’ve opted for doxycycline (6 months worth), there are couple of options for malaria pills but this seems most commonly used with very few side effects (You may become more sensitive to the sun) its also used as an antibiotic so will help you out with little cuts etc and any other dodgy bugs you pick up along the way

rotorua_thumbAuckland, Rotorua, Queenstown, Wanaka, Bay of Islands, North Island, South Island, snowboarding, mountain biking, swimming, walking, talking, rain, sun, wind, snow, parties, barbeques, beer, wine, cars, planes and a bit of everything else. Well it’s been a while, what’s the excuse? Well you know how it is - we’re still in Auckland working, living and generally enjoying New Zealand. The months just seem to be flying past. We’ve been away 10 months now.

When I got washed out of the rapids, I kind of expected one of our guides to either be there or motion for where to go, instead I just got washed downstream and eventually swam towards the shore.

Mae Ra Moe Refugee Camp

Travel - Thailand

maeramoe_thumbWe spent a week in Mae Ra Moe, the ‘Club Med’ of the Karen refugee camps. The location is breathtaking; it’s in the middle of the jungle with a river through the middle of it and, compared to the other camps, pretty spacious.

Halong Bay and Cat Ba Island

Travel - Vietnam

halong_thumbWe spent a night on the boat and two nights on Cat Ba Island. The night on the boat was cool, very romantic - the sound of the waves lapping against the side of the boat, the scrabbling of rats trying to get into your room, awwwwww. Cat Ba Island is the only inhabited island in Halong bay.

Thai Boxing training begins

Travel - Thailand

update_muaythai_thumb

It’s tough as the trainer and the rest of the students don’t really speak English so well and my Thai is, well, pretty ropey if you don’t count ordering beers and counting to ten. Most of what is taught is demonstrated. Injuries and throwing up from over-exertion aside, it’s great.

border_thumbThe guard then tried to tell us he had no change to give, though after a while he eventually pulled out a bundle of notes of all sizes - 10s 20s - and of course the $5 Abby had just handed him. Welcome to Zimbabwe.

Finally managed to find somewhere in sub Saharan Africa that will make a white Russian (it’s been a mission). Keane the cocktail barman gave in and attempted to make his first white Russian. We gave him the instructions “kind of like a black Russian but instead of coke use milk”
